Faxe Lye Original stops the yellowing process of the wood effectively and gives in the popular light patina characterizing genuine lye-treated woodwork. Faxe Lye Original keeps the wood light and enhances veins, grain and heartwood. Faxe White Lye is produced especially to stop the yellowing process of the wood and to give light wood a very light, uniform and whitish surface with visible wood texture.
Area of use:
Faxe Lye Original and
Faxe White Lye are both used on new, untreated or newly sanded/honed wood on floors, walls, table tops, doors, furniture - wherever you want to keep the light wood light and natural. Faxe Lye Original is only used on pine and fir. Faxe White Lye is used on pine, fir, larch, douglas, oak, ash, maple, chestnut a.o. The colouring will depend on the sort of the wood. We recommend a test coat on the wood.
Instruvtions of use:
1. The wood must be clean and dry. Dirty wooden surfaces should be cleaned thoroughly with Faxe Wood Cleaner prior to any treatment.
2. Shake the can thoroughly before and during use.
3. Apply the lye with an acid-proof brush or a mop with a cover in an even layer in the longitudinal direction of the wood. Even out overlapping, while the wood is still wet. Use suitable protective gloves and goggles during the work.
4. When the wood is dry, it may be lye-treated again, which will provide the lightest result. And the best protection against yellowing.
5. Floor boards, furniture, table tops and the like must receive a finish to make the wood protected effectively against the pentration of dirt an fluids.
After-treatment/Finish:
When the wood is dry, we recommend a finish of floors, table tops and furniture with one of Faxe’s wood oils or one of
Faxe’s soaps. The oil treatment and the soap treatment are both available in natural and white-pigment versions. The oil treatment makes the wood extremely resistant to spillage and wear. If you desire the wood to be natural, light and whitish, choose
Faxe Prestige Oil White,
Faxe Wood Oil White or
Faxe Business Oil White. If your woodwork should be golden, choose
Faxe Prestige Oil natural,
Faxe Wood Oil Natural or
Faxe Business Oil natural. Soap treatment is recommended for wood that you want to have a beautiful, silk-matt and entirely natural surface.
Faxe Floor Soap White gives the wood a light, whitish surface, and
Faxe Soap Natural lends the wood a natural. Light golden colouring.
Tip!
A wooden floor should be smooth and delicious. To prevent the wood fibres from rising during the lye-treatment, we recommend moisturing it first with Faxe Wood Cleaner and water (1:40). When the wood is dry, hone the floor with net or sandpaper, grain 120. The wood is then ready for lye treatment.
